Dr. Nachiketa Sinha is a visionary psychiatrist, health systems innovator, and compassionate advocate whose work has left an indelible mark on mental health care in New Brunswick and across Canada. Since 2006, he has served as a consulting psychiatrist in New Brunswick, bringing together clinical insight, administrative leadership, and culturally responsive care.

In May 2022, Dr. Sinha was appointed Regional Chief of Staff for Horizon Health Network, where he now oversees the quality of medical care across the province’s largest health authority. Prior to that, he held the role of Chief of Psychiatry at Horizon’s Moncton Hospital, where he led multidisciplinary teams and advanced integration of mental health services.

A graduate of Karnatak University (MBBS, 2001), Dr. Sinha completed psychiatric training in the United Kingdom under the Cambridge Deanery and gained experience with the Bedfordshire and Luton NHS Trust. He further holds an Executive MBA in Health Care from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, equipping him with strategic insight into health system transformation.

Dr. Sinha has been deeply involved in leadership roles provincially and nationally. He is a former President of both the Canadian Psychiatric Association and the New Brunswick Psychiatric Association, roles in which he advanced patient-centered care, mental health policy reform, and access initiatives such as Community Treatment Orders. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, contributing to education, mentorship, and research across the Atlantic provinces.

Driven by his Indian heritage and a commitment to equity, Dr. Sinha’s work emphasizes culturally safe care, especially for Indigenous and marginalized populations. He is also the author of Empowered and Strong, a widely recognized self-help book that reflects his holistic view of mental health.
